D4R: An Interactive and Visual Exploration of a 16th Century Corpus on Spanish Inquisition

Résumé

The computational processing and annotation of large quantities of historical texts enable researchers in that field to search and explore those corpora. The D4R project aims to allow historians and philologists to explore inquisitorial documents and books on spirituality from the 16th century Spain, so that data, relations and concepts which are not easily found in human analysis could be brought to light. Thus, the goals of the project are twofold: firstly, transcribing, processing, mining and showcasing a corpus of texts from the 16th century in the field of the Spanish Reformation; and secondly, designing and creating a tool to explore large quantities of text from a historical perspective.
